Selection of Strong Corrugated Cardboard Packaging Box Size

The size of heavy-duty corrugated boxes should be selected by considering cargo characteristics, transport conditions and warehousing requirements. A well-matched size improves protection, loading efficiency and storage performance.

Cargo Size

Measure the length, width and height of the goods, including protruding parts or irregular shapes. The carton inner size is generally 2–5 cm larger than the maximum size of the goods.

Quantity of Goods

For multiple items in one carton, the box size should be calculated according to the arrangement, quantity, layers and reserved gaps.

Buffering Material Space

If foam board, air cushion or other cushioning materials are required, reserve space for the material thickness around the goods.

Transportation and storage restrictions should also be considered, including truck compartment size, container internal dimensions, warehouse shelf width, stacking method and loading convenience.

Heavy Duty Corrugated Box Design Points

Structural Design

Strong corrugated cartons often use B flute, C flute or BC flute combinations. B flute has shorter flute height, more flutes, better flat compressive strength and printability. C flute offers balanced cushioning and compression performance. BC flute combines strength and cushioning for more demanding shipping needs.

Common box types include 0201 slotted cartons and 0301 nested cartons. 0201 cartons are widely used and easy to open and close. 0301 cartons have stronger anti-extrusion ability and are suitable for goods with higher top pressure resistance requirements.

Material Selection

High-strength base paper, such as imported kraft paper or high-quality domestic kraft paper, can provide good ring compression strength, bursting strength and tensile strength. The quantitative is generally between 150–300 g/m² and should be selected according to product weight and carton size.

The number of corrugated layers can be selected according to product weight and strength requirements. Five-layer corrugated cardboard is suitable for heavy goods of normal weight, while seven-layer or nine-layer structures can be used for overweight, oversized or extremely high-strength goods.

Printing and Labeling

The carton can be printed with product name, specifications, quantity, weight, production date, shelf life, handling precautions, storage reminders and warning signs for easier identification and transport management.

Offset printing and flexographic printing can help keep patterns and text clear, firm and colorful during transportation and storage.
